So, when was the essay published and how many copies have been sold? The dissertation was published and sold by the year of 1899, during the Spanish American war. So that is what this essay is about, the american president, McKinly, trying to send a message to a Spanish war general, Garcia. There have been over 40 million copies sold so about 1/5 people had this essay on the adolescent. This dissertation was printed in 37 different languages and "A Message to Garcia" became a popular slang, in fact, they still make you read the essay in war camps to this day. The day of September 14th, 1901 was the day of the assassination of president McKinley, the act was done by an anarchist. Originally, the essay was published as a book and pamphlet, it was sent all accost the world and was given out from business bosses to there employees as like a pep talk or something like that.
